The statistics suggest that Women over 60 have already 50% of the population a reduction in the acid in the stomach. The question is what’s causing the reduction to begin with is it the aging process? Or is it a proton pump inhibitor or H2 blocker. If the latter certainly if you stop it there may be an improvement in the hydrochloric acid levels again. If not, continue supplementation for each meal may be necessary. Just as there is 1000 fold decrease in enzymes, ( digestive enzymes) this similar happens in HCl.

in reply to: Hormone testing #1151

If someone has a cycle of course its best. Usually testing the third day of the cycle or doing 11 samples to test the complete cycle if you need more exactness. I find blood to be the easiest although it is only a spot in time. Saliva is similar just a spot in time however it’s supposed to if collected properly, give you results that are of the free component only. For sure, the urine is a dynamic estimation of a 24 hour period of someone’s urine hormone levels, and it also looks at the downstream metabolites.

Careful in the amount of fluid, however, I would definitely be doing everything possible to reduce inflammation! Additional magnesium especially in the form of sulfate to relax the bronchi they also be important. You might also want to try 1000 mg of Taurine at the end too.

in reply to: port discomfort #1143

Check the pH of your solution and let me know. It definitely should not be irritating that port! Any problems contact the helpdesk immediately. Thanks for the question.

in reply to: PGX testing #1142

PhDx now does offer that testing by blood! Actually it’s a very good way of doing it because there is enough DNA in the blood. You do not need to do any extra tubes except the wellness panel and then write it in the form that notes you want to do this testing. Thanks for the question

    in reply to: Fibrinogen #1075

Fibrinogen is an acute phase reactant and is often elevated when the plasma is more viscous. This increase in blood viscosity of course lends itself to poor nutrient transfer and increased potential for clotting. It is important to increase  water intake, 5 to 8 glasses of water a day. And I like to use one of the fibrolytic agents which includes either plasmanex or nattokinase. Remember both of these enzymes must be taken on an empty stomach.

    in reply to: Vitamin #1071

B 12 is extracted from food especially me fish and Dairy. In diseases of the bone marrow such as chronic myleogenous leukemia or other Myleoproliferative disorders there may be an unusual increase without supplementation in the blood also. When there is an elevation of Haptocorrin which occurs in liver problems such as hepatitis and cirrhosis the elevation will occur without additional supplemental quantities of B 12; and noticeable amounts into the bloodstream as well. So seeing elevations of B 12 in the bloodstream without concurrent use of supplementation of some sort of B 12 would be of interest clinically.

As far as the Dosing for vitamin D pretty much the rule of thumb is that you require or Need 5,000 to 8000 units to maintain a blood level, and 10,000 or more units to raise a blood level. I have found clinically this takes more than four months especially if someone has a transport receptor defect. I also Simultaneously give injections of IM vitamin D3 as well. If it’s lower than 30 at least 150,000 to 200,000 I use weekly for a minimum of six weeks will be helpful while you’re replacing him with 10 to 15,000 units PO. You might also remember to give some Vit. K too so that there is no exogenous calcifications in the artery due to the unopposed vitamin D and calcium.

in reply to: NAD IV #1065

Yes, we do have a protocol for NAD and you can certainly check the helpdesk for it and they will send it to you. We talk about it in the advance IV course so if you’ve taken that you’ll find it in your notes. But there are some significant side effects because of the intracellular aberrations that NED can do in doses that are given over 12 hours including some significant and severe chest pain. That can make your day miserable could it not? lol

in reply to: IV Therapy in Pregnancy #916

IV therapy is safe for pregnancy, I use the Mini formula with 1000-1500 mg of glutathione once a week. I have done this for my daughters when they were pregnant. It helps the mother maintain good nutrition through the entire pregnancy.

As far as chelation, although I believe it would probably be safe, it is contraindicated in pregnancy because it will remove calcium which is needed for baby’s development and the mother could become hypocalcemic. We do not have enough research for pregnancy use yet.

in reply to: myasthenia gravis #915

MG being a neuromuscular transmission disorder I have found with great success the following: Optimize DHEA, pregnenolone, testosterone. Use in the beginning 3 days a week IV Supper Immune formula with glutathione (start lower, 1000 mg build up to 3000 mg). Use the Wellness Panel to guide the rest of your treatment. Be certain to optimize Magnesium, making sure they do not have magnesium transmission disorder.

    in reply to: Curcumin #824

Unfortunately, Curcumin is often not absorbed well or maintains its levels in the blood stream. I have found the best two forms to be the BCM 95 or even better the Longivida brand which we have in our store house for you. This passes the blood brain barrier easily and maintains good blood levels. This form was developed by UCLA researchers. As far as anti-inflammation,curcumin seems to have the best affect even when compared to many of the drugs that are by Pharmacy script. However, larger than usual doses should be considered and in some cases such as a cancer patient, 5 to 8000 mg a day, in divided doses, maybe needed and useful.
I would suggest you not use the IV Curcumin at this time. It has been recalled due to two deaths secondary to allergic reaction from the carrier which are propylene glycol and castor oil.

in reply to: Hormone replacement #823

I know that’s a concern of a lot of patients but certainly should not be one.
I always ask patients to recall when they were in high school when the hormones were at the highest whether a male with high testosterone or a female with high estrogen. Where there any people in their class that had actual breast disease or cancer of the prostate? Usually there’s a smile at that point. I think if we can renew useful levels of hormones safely and then make sure that we use products to shunt the metabolites into safe pathways we can feel confident and the patients should to that they are maintaining a healthy anabolic state.

in reply to: ANS and labwork #822

Autonomic nervous system has been shown consistently responsible at a physiological level for the development of heart disease. The ANS machine can clearly show if the patient has a cardio metabolic disorder or evidence of coronary artery disease. Since it is 84.2% sensitive and specificity is as high as 96.8% the clinician can clearly rely on its outcome. It also acts as a great base and benchmark for a specific patient particularly when compared to the history physical and the blood test of the panel “offer wellness.”

    in reply to: Statins #821

Look carefully at who produced the literature.and review the statistics of the drug’s NNT and NNH. Basically, what is the absolute risk reduction…typically very disappointing for any statin.Review Okayama independent study and Nakazato Cath study.
Check the patients CPK even though there is NO drug company suggestion to do so. And be quite aware that the statins can cause a lot more damage than good. Pretty much think about NOT using them most if not all the time. Recognize, natural alternatives to accomplish the same goal.
