What do you tell patients that need hormone replacement therapy but are afraid of increasing risk for cancer?

I know that’s a concern of a lot of patients but certainly should not be one.
I always ask patients to recall when they were in high school when the hormones were at the highest whether a male with high testosterone or a female with high estrogen. Where there any people in their class that had actual breast disease or cancer of the prostate? Usually there’s a smile at that point. I think if we can renew useful levels of hormones safely and then make sure that we use products to shunt the metabolites into safe pathways we can feel confident and the patients should to that they are maintaining a healthy anabolic state.
